4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Hard words, at least for me. It is midterm week here at La Crosse which comes with exams, projects, speeches, and auditions. I know in all this stress it's hard to find time to sleep let alone rejoice in the Lord. I really struggle everyday with thinking about things which are pure and holy, things that are godly. I really struggle with making God a part of my day. This devotion is greatly helping me with that struggle, however I don't always post joyfully.
This is one of my favorite passages simply because it puts a finger in my face and says -hey, God is good and deserving of praise no matter how you're feeling! The world is bigger than me, than what i can think of. God's plans for my life are taking place every day yet somedays i don't even look. So on days when i am extra stressed i like to look to this passage, calm my soul alittle hanging with God and praising Him no matter if i feel like it or not.
