All through the bible and especially in the New Testament is a theme of love.
Love is a very essential part of my personal relationship with God, and one the the miracles I witness daily is the love that my friends are able to exhibit to me. This love is possible through God. So here are a few verses describing love in the bible.
Songs of Solomon 8
6 Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love
is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave. Its flashes are
flashes of fire, a most vehement flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench
love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the
wealth of his house, it would be utterly scorned.
1 John 4
4 Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who
is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the
world, therefore what they say is of the world, and the world listens
to them. 6 We are of God.
7 Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who
loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not
know God; for God is love.
1 Corinthians 13
4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5 it is
not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not
irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices
in the right. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends; as for prophecies, they
will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it
will pass away. 9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is
imperfect; 10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass
away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a
child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up
childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to
face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I
have been fully understood. 13 So faith, hope, love abide, these
three; but the greatest of these is love.
Love to me is such a hardconcept to grasp.
The word love has a wide variety of uses in our
American culture. We have friendship love, relationship love, family
love, and godly love or 1st corinthians love. It is hard for me to imgine
the creator of the universe caring or even loving me, yet he loves each and
every one of us personally.
Some say like a father, but God's love is really undefinable. The
important thing i get from love is it is always there or unconditional.
God will never stop loving us. We are hischildren and nothing we do
can make him love us MORE or LESS. God's love does not rely on
our actions, he loves us for who we honestly are. Amazing.
Something I don't quite understand but none the less is there
and a brilliant source of energy and inspiration.
The part in 1st John brings up showing God's love to others, many
people can not grasp God's love for them. However if he can use us
to help illistrate it on even a simple level, together with God anything is possible.
God Bless,
