I have always heard and told people that "you will make time for the important things". Life is soooo busy, and when it's not, it doesn't always seem like a relief, it seems as if something is wrong or just empty. I wonder about the things I spend time on and that keep me busy...
I'd like to think homework, but it's just not true, the night before something is due maybe or if I really like the project. But no, I'd also like to think God is my highest priority, however if the saying is true you'll make time. . . I definatley kick myself often for just not finding the time to read and to pray. I wonder where I spend most of my time? Split evenly between things? Work, I teach and I nanny, these take up time. Going to class definately sturctures my day pretty well. Maybe time with friends, sometimes this is scheduled because I'm in town and have some extra time, sometimes it's already blocked out as this is time we are going to hang out.
What is my priority? Yesterday I forgot to make a phone call for work. This past week I missed getting 2 different papers in on time. I haven't prayed everyday. Am I too busy? Are there too many things trying to get my attention? Or do I not prioritize well?
In all reality it's probably a combination of both. Most of us find ourselves with too many responsibilities we just can't humanly do them all. Good intentions and well meaning gestures tend to get us in over our heads, or things just happen and take time from the day. So what now?
Well, I'm big on to do lists, so I have a large one decorated near by door. While my planner may be full of things I'm "suppose" to get done that day, I like this list better. It says - 1. Stop and smell the roses today, always take time to enjoy life 2. Don't worry so much, God has a plan 3. Care. about others and about yourself - everything else will fall into place
Sure there are problems and things we need to get done or worry about. But... I have a place to live, clothes, some food =), and friends and family who love me. God has taken care of me well and he will for you too. I hope you have time today to stop and smell the roses.
God Bless!
